the Gastroenterologist

Today we took Loren to her first appointment with the pediatric gastroenterologist to discuss her possible Celiac Disease diagnosis. We really liked him, and he was very sweet to Loren and kind to answer all of our questions. For now, all signs still point to her having it...but he ordered more blood work to double check her sky high TTG number (the Celiac test in other words), and test a few more things that Celiac patients sometimes have trouble with (thyroid and diabetes). The blood draw was yet another major drama...she freaked out and they were only able to get a little of what they need. SO once again, we go back next week (with numbing cream in hand this time) to try to get the rest. We have also scheduled her intestine biopsy for Monday Jan. 21. Hopefully we'll get our final answer within a week or so of that!! Pray for normal blood work for thyroid and diabetes, and a successful surgery for her.
