We returned to Houston just in time to be hit by the first major hurricane in 25 years. After debating on whether or not we should stay or go...we finally decided Friday morning why not just go to San Marcos to Clay's parents. I am glad we did. I had braved the grocery store Thursday morning to stock up though if we had decided to stay...the lines were each about 25 people deep stretching down the aisles back to the back of the store. It was complete madness. Clay was finally able to get gas late that night too so we didn't have to wait in the long lines for that...and thankfully there was still a little bit left at one station...the gas station by our house was completely empty.
It was a given we'd be without power...we are just not sure for how long. We were also a bit worried about some of the big trees around our house coming down...no point in putting anyone's life at risk. So off we headed...the roads were crowded with lots of evacuees...but it was not bad. ...and we were glad it took us the normal 3 hours rather than the 11 it took last time we evacuated for Hurricane Rita 3 years ago.
Our neighbors are keeping an eye on our house, and we have not heard of any damage...so we feel no news is good news. We are just waiting to get the call the power is back now.
But in the mean time we are glad to be comfortable here in San Marcos...now it's off to Outlet Mall for Clay and I....

Hey there! Glad to hear from you. I love your blog and am so glad to have found you guys. Hope your home faired well with Ike. I'll keep up with you guys often. Your girls are adorable and I just love the spelling of their names. How does it feel being 30? I'll turn the big 3-0 in a few months and it's crazy...guess it's about time being as I have 4 critters!
What a welcome back to Houston. So glad to hear you are all okay - we've been wondering how Ike might have effected you guys. Love you guys, The Baschs
